The Department provides comprehensive diagnostics and treatment of:

  • non-specific inflammatory bowel disease
  • impaired absorption – coeliac disease
  • lactose intolerance
  • food allergy
  • chronic liver diseases
  • acute and chronic pancreatitis
  • gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • gastrointestinal bleeding
  • inflammatory bowel disease


The structure of the Department of Gastroenterology:


Gastrointestinal Tract Endoscopy Laboratory which offers endoscopic, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the scope of:

  • upper and lower section of the alimentary tract (gastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy)
  • endoscopic treatment of oesophageal varices
  • polypectomy
  • application of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy
  • control of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • removal of foreign bodies from the stomach


Alimentary Tract Function Tests Laboratory:

  • manometry of the upper and lower section of alimentary tract
  • ph-metric examination of the upper section of alimentary tract
  • hydrogen breath test
