Scope of activity:
Our department offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of pediatric diseases in the area of trauma and orthopaedic surgery, multi-organ injuries and surgeries of the locomotor system injuries. We specialise in the treatment of congenital and acquired spinal deformities.
Treatment of diseases:
The range of the treated diseases includes: bone and joint injuries and congenital and acquired diseases of the osteoarticular system. Taking into consideration the congenital diseases of the osteoarticular system, we can offer treatment of talipes equinovarus and other foot deformities, congenital hip joint dislocations and congenital spinal deformities. We treat patients suffering from the consequences of osteoarticular system diseases, for example neurological ones, including: infantile cerebral palsy or myelomeningocele. We also treat multi-organ and multi-focal injuries, in particular pelvic and long bone fractures and spinal fractures. Our scope of activity includes treatment of sports injuries and consequences of sports injuries.
The Department offers arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip, elbow, knee and ankle joint.
Recently we have introduced medical procedures for the filling of cartilage defects in the joints through multiplication of autologous chondrocytes and their transplantation. With this purpose in mind we closely cooperate with the Tissue Bank of the Regional Blood Donation and Transfusion Medicine Centre in Katowice.
